Microsoft Lync 2013 – How to Change your Presence

  1. On your Lync contact list, under your name, you will find your presence status
  2. Lync presence is broken up into 4 basic statuses
  3. Available – showing you are available for contact and can receive all calls and Instant Messages
  4. Busy – showing that you are not available but can still receive all calls and IM’s
  5. Do Not Disturb – showing you are not available and letting others know that you cannot receive calls of IM’s
  6. And Away – showing that you are away from your desk
    1. The Appear Away status allows you to appear as if your computer is idle but lets you continue to work
  7. Lync and Outlook also are connected so when you have a meeting set in your calendar your Lync presence will show you are Busy
  8. These settings can also be manually set to any setting you may choose
  9. Reset Status Returns any status to Available
