I had chosen during install of Skype for Business Server to have the installation updated automatically. When I reviewed the logs it appeared the patch installation was at fault. I tried to update with SkypeServerUpdateInstaller.exe but ultimately, it failed.
Unfortunately, it seemed the quickest way to resolve the problem was to uninstall what I had already installed and re-install without automatically updating. Then after the installation was finished, manually update the installation with SkypeServer UpdateInstaller.exe.
The moral of the story is to perform a clean install WITHOUT automatically updating and then perform the update manually after the install is complete.
